Spec. 001 — Muriel

Privacy

Muriel collects nothing about you. There is no account to make, no profile to fill in, and nothing about your hearing or your whereabouts is sent anywhere. Everything the app knows stays on your phone.

What's collected
Nothing. Muriel has no sign-up, no login, and no server to send anything to. Your dose history, your settings, and every reading behind them live in the app's own storage on your device.
What leaves your device
Nothing. If you turn on iCloud backup, your phone's own backup includes Muriel's data along with everything else, encrypted and under your Apple account rather than mine. That is between you and Apple; I never see it.
Analytics
There are none. No third-party analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no usage tracking, no attribution or install-referrer service. I don't know how many times you've opened the app, and I've built it so I can't.
Advertising
There are no ad networks in Muriel and no advertising identifiers are read. Nothing about you is sold, shared, brokered, or used to target anything at you, by me or by anyone else.
The microphone
Muriel measures sound levels while you have it running. It measures loudness only — audio is never recorded, never written to disk, and never transmitted. What's kept is a number, not a sound.

Muriel reads environmental sound levels and headphone audio levels from Apple Health. That data is read on device, and it stays on device. It is never transmitted anywhere, never used for advertising, and never sold.

Health data is used for one thing: showing you your own hearing dose inside the app. It is not used for any other purpose, and it is never shared with third parties. You can revoke Muriel's Health access at any time in the Health app, and you can delete everything by deleting the app.
