Ikat Privacy

Summary

• Ikat has no accounts. There is nothing to sign in to.
• Your entries, photos and history stay on your device and in your own iCloud account. Thrice Woven cannot see them.
• There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.

What we collect

Nothing is sent to a Thrice Woven server, because Ikat does not have one. The app stores the following on your device:

• Entries. What you record you ate: the words you typed, the food groups the entry was filed under, and the date and time you gave it.
• Photos you attach. Kept in the app's own storage on the device. Ikat reads the capture date from a photo you attach so the entry can be filed on the right day; it does not read or store location data from your photos.
• Your settings. Which dietary guides you have chosen, reminder times, and units.

If you have iCloud enabled for Ikat, this data syncs through your own private iCloud database so it is available on your other devices. It is governed by your agreement with Apple and is not readable by Thrice Woven.

What we don't collect

• No name, email address, date of birth or any other account detail.
• No device identifiers, advertising identifiers or fingerprinting of any kind.
• No location. Ikat never requests location access.
• No analytics, usage statistics, session recording, crash telemetry or A/B testing.
• No health data. Ikat does not read from or write to Apple Health, and does not ask for weight, calories or body measurements.
• No contacts, calendar, microphone or motion data.

Where data lives

On your device, in the app's private container, and — if you have turned it on — in your personal iCloud account. Deleting the app removes the local copy. Removing Ikat's data from iCloud settings removes the synced copy. Because we hold nothing, there is no account for us to delete and no export for us to send you; the app's own export writes a file directly to your device.

Third parties

Ikat contains no third-party SDKs, no analytics library, no advertising network and no crash reporter. It makes no network requests other than to Apple's iCloud service on your behalf, and only if you have enabled iCloud sync.

Apple provides us with anonymous, aggregated App Store statistics such as the number of downloads by territory. We cannot connect these to any individual, and they are produced by Apple rather than by anything in the app.

Permissions

Ikat asks for three permissions, each only when it is first needed.

• Camera. Used only when you choose to photograph a meal from inside the app. The image goes straight into that entry. Nothing is captured in the background.
• Photo library. Used only when you pick an existing photo to attach. On iOS you may grant access to selected photos rather than the whole library; Ikat works normally that way and never browses beyond what you choose.
• Notifications. Optional. Used only for the reminders you set yourself. We do not send marketing or announcements.

Declining any of these leaves the rest of the app fully usable: an entry can always be written in words instead.

Food recognition

Ikat can suggest what a photo shows. This is optional, is turned off until you enable it, and runs entirely on your device using an on-device model shipped inside the app. Photos are never uploaded for recognition, and nothing is sent anywhere for processing.

A suggestion is always shown as a suggestion. It is marked as unconfirmed until you accept it, and you can correct or reject it. Corrections are used only to adjust that entry on your device; they are not collected and are not used to train anything.

Children

Ikat is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. Since the app collects no personal information at all and requires no account, there is nothing for a child to submit to us. A parent who has a question can write to the address below.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it and the previous version is superseded. If a change ever meant that Ikat began collecting data it does not collect today, the app would ask you before it did so.
