Fathom Privacy

Summary

• Fathom collects nothing. No accounts, no sign-in, no profile, no email address.
• Progress stays on the device, and in your own iCloud account if you have that turned on.
• No ads, no purchases, no third-party code, no analytics, no tracking. Children are the people most likely to play this, which is why the answer to every question below is nothing.

What we collect

Nothing. There is no Thrice Woven server behind Fathom and no account to hold anything in. What the app writes, it writes on the device you are playing on:

• Progress. Which zones have been opened, which puzzles are solved, and the state of a puzzle left part-finished.
• Settings. Sound on or off, reduced motion, and which of the saved games on this device is the current one.

None of this identifies anyone. A saved game is named only by whatever the player typed on the save, and the app does not ask for a real name, an age or a birthday.

What we don't collect

• No name, email address, age, birthday or any other personal detail.
• No device identifiers, advertising identifiers or fingerprinting of any kind.
• No analytics, usage statistics, session recording, crash telemetry or A/B testing. We do not know which puzzles are played or how often.
• No location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone data.
• No behavioural profile, and nothing that could be used to build one. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone, because nothing is held.

Where data lives

In the app's private container on the device. If iCloud is enabled for Fathom, progress syncs through the account holder's own private iCloud database so the same game continues on an iPad; that is governed by your agreement with Apple and is not readable by us. Deleting the app removes the local copy, and removing Fathom's data in iCloud settings removes the synced one. There is no export to request and no account to delete.

Third parties

Fathom contains no third-party SDKs: no advertising network, no analytics library, no crash reporter, no social login, no chat, no user-generated content and no links out of the app to anywhere but the system Settings screen. The app makes no network requests other than to Apple's iCloud service on the account holder's behalf.

Apple provides us with anonymous, aggregated App Store statistics such as download counts by territory. We cannot connect those to any individual, and they are produced by Apple rather than by anything in the app.

Permissions

Fathom asks for no permissions. It does not request the camera, the microphone, the photo library, contacts, location or notifications. It plays without a network connection, and there is no setting a child could reach that would change any of that.

Children

Fathom is made for children and is treated as a children's app throughout. It is built to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and with Apple's requirements for apps in the Kids category.

• No personal information is collected from anyone, of any age, so no parental consent is required and none is sought.
• There is no advertising of any kind, no behavioural targeting and no in-app purchase. Nothing in the game asks a child to spend money or to ask an adult to.
• There is no chat, no messaging, no player-to-player contact and no way for a child to publish anything.
• There are no external links, so a child cannot be taken out of the game and into a browser.

Because nothing is collected, there is nothing for a parent to review, correct or ask us to delete. A parent who wants to remove everything can delete the app, which removes the local data, and remove Fathom's data in iCloud settings. A parent with a question can write to the address below.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it and the previous version is superseded. Fathom will not begin collecting data it does not collect today. If that ever changed, it would be a different app, and this page would say so before the change shipped.
